Riyadh to Bring Global Experts Together for 6G Connectivity and Space Sustainability Event 2026
Riyadh will host the Global Space Connectivity and Sustainability Event 2026 from October 12 to 14, bringing together international experts to discuss the future of satellite communications, next-generation networks and sustainable space operations.
Organized by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the three-day event will take place at CST headquarters under the theme “Connected World, Sustainable Space.”
Held under the patronage of Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of CST's Board of Directors, the event combines the third editions of the International Non-Terrestrial Networks Forum (NTN) and the Space Sustainability Forum (SSF).
Advancing 6G and Satellite Connectivity
The program will explore the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial communications networks, with a particular focus on sixth-generation technology (6G) and emerging satellite applications.
Discussions will address direct-to-device (D2D) satellite communications, the expansion of connectivity into underserved areas and preparations for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (WRC-27).
Participants will also examine how advanced satellite networks can contribute to reducing the global digital divide.
Addressing Orbital Sustainability Challenges
Space sustainability will form another major part of the agenda, covering orbital congestion, interference management, space debris prevention and responsible use of orbital resources.
The event will explore international governance practices, emerging space markets and the growing importance of space infrastructure in supporting economic and environmental development.
Technology Demonstrations and Research Awards
The event will showcase results from technical trials and innovative non-terrestrial network solutions.
It will also announce the winners of the NTN 2026 Global Research Competition, organized by CST in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
