Jeddah governorate is preparing to welcome the historic Italian sailing ship Amerigo Vespucci on January 27, 2025, in an event unprecedented since the ship was launched 93 years ago. The vessel, one of the most iconic symbols of the Italian navy, will remain in Jeddah until January 30 as part of its round-the-world tour, marking its 33rd port of call.

"Villaggio Italia": A Window Into Italian Culture

During the ship's stay, a range of events will be held under the "Villaggio Italia" initiative, giving visitors a distinctive experience exploring the finest of Italian culture. The initiative includes:

  • The "Italia Geniale" exhibition: highlighting innovative Italian design, organized by Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the ADI Design Museum.
  • A video and photography exhibition: showcasing Italy's natural and architectural beauty.
  • An Italian botanical garden: introducing plants for which Italy is renowned.
  • An Italian taste experience: a journey through Italian cuisine and artisanal traditions.
  • Boosting tourism and Saudi-Italian cooperation: through seminars and meetings showcasing the strong relationship between the two countries.

Blue and Space Economy Conference

The visit will also feature an international conference focused on the blue and space economy, discussing sustainability, technological innovation, and the role of international cooperation in developing economic and environmental sectors.
