The Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, in its second edition, drew strong visitor interest by offering an exceptional cultural experience that highlights the history of Islamic arts through an innovative, interactive approach. Events held at the Hajj Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah saw wide attendance across all age groups, with visitors enjoying a unique mix of creative activities, panel discussions and interactive workshops.

Four Interactive Cultural Tracks Inspire the Audience

The Diriyah Biennale Foundation is offering a diverse cultural programme built around four main tracks: "Art Lab," which offers panel discussions and visits to artists' studios alongside workshops and professional courses; "Research Space," a platform bringing artists and researchers together to discuss artistic research through specialized lectures and seminars; "Youth and Children's Studio," which focuses on educational lessons and workshops for families and young people to boost their understanding of Islamic arts; and "Biennale Talks," which offers an opportunity for dialogue between artists and the public around the intersections of art, society and cultural change.

Creative Events and Standout Shows

This year's cultural programme features diverse, innovative events, most notably "Cinema Nights," held in cooperation with the Red Sea Film Foundation, screening films that highlight Islamic culture; Arabic Calligraphy workshops offering specialized courses in calligraphy, carving and ceramic tile-making; an interactive display of the Kaaba kiswah, in cooperation with the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, showcasing the stages of its production and the techniques used in its design; and the "Orbit Dialogue" tour, a cultural experience linking history and art through exploring the historical collections and archaeological pieces on display.

A Cultural Vision That Boosts Global Dialogue

Through this event, the Diriyah Biennale Foundation aims to build cultural bridges between Islamic arts and the local and international community, boosting concepts of discovery, research and learning. The biennale also represents an educational platform combining historical artifacts with contemporary art, offering a rich experience that boosts interaction between past and present and highlights the Kingdom's role in preserving and supporting cultural heritage through contemporary methods.
