Jeddah, 14 Sha'ban 1447 AH (2 February 2026)

The Red Sea Museum has presented a cultural programme that combined art workshops, cultural dialogues, performances and family activities, blending the Red Sea's heritage with contemporary creative practice in interactive content designed to reach every segment of the community through innovative learning.

The programme covered traditional architecture, historic photography, music, travel literature, the history of navigation and public health in the Red Sea region, with events hosted in the museum's facilities and across the open spaces of Historic Jeddah, presenting heritage as a living, renewable source of inspiration.

Children took part in interactive workshops on the basics of map-making and navigation, while specialised workshops revived historic photographic printing techniques with a contemporary twist. Intellectual gatherings examined traditional architecture and its links to identity and modern transformation, and hands-on sessions traced the evolution of navigation from past to present in a format that merged knowledge with experience.

Performances reflected the richness of the region's cultural scene, alongside sessions documenting the transformation of Jeddah's historic landmarks and dialogues highlighting the enduring presence of Islamic heritage in people's lives and places. The programme closed with a lecture on the development of quarantine and public health surveillance systems in the Red Sea region, spotlighting the historic role of Bab Al-Bunt as a quarantine station for pilgrims.

The museum continues to cement its place as a cultural anchor for the community, building bridges with schools, universities and associations through diverse programmes and guided tours that raise awareness of Red Sea history and strengthen ties to the region's cultural identity. It positions itself as a knowledge platform documenting the tangible, intangible and natural heritage of the Red Sea and presenting it through educational and interactive initiatives.
