The international conference “Saudi Arabia’s Efforts in Addressing Ideological Deviations” begins today, Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Madinah.

Organized by the Islamic University of Madinah under the patronage of Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Madinah Region, the two-day conference runs through September 28 and brings together scholars, researchers, and specialists from Saudi Arabia and abroad.

56 Research Papers and Nine Panel Sessions

The conference features 56 peer-reviewed research papers, nine panel discussions, and 10 accompanying exhibitions, covering a range of issues related to the causes and effects of ideological deviations and approaches to addressing them.

Discussions also explore national initiatives related to countering extremism, as well as the role of religious principles, mental health, and community institutions in strengthening intellectual awareness and prevention.

AI and Emerging Technologies Among Key Topics

The program also examines the role of artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and social media platforms in promoting awareness and responding to contemporary ideological challenges.

Another focus is strengthening cooperation among educational, security, media, and community institutions, while facilitating the exchange of experiences and expertise among participating researchers and specialists.

Developing Research-Based Recommendations

Conference organizing committee chairman Dr. Maher Khoja said the event seeks to produce scientific and knowledge-based outcomes that can strengthen intellectual awareness, improve institutional cooperation, and support the exchange of international expertise.

Islamic University President Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Aqla also highlighted the role of academic and educational institutions in developing knowledge and strengthening awareness.

The conference concludes on September 28, 2026, with the aim of developing recommendations that contribute to national and international efforts to address contemporary ideological challenges.
