Aseel AlYaqoub wins seventh Ithra Art Prize for Flora Incognita
The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) has named Kuwaiti artist Aseel AlYaqoub the winner of the seventh Ithra Art Prize for Flora Incognita, one of five finalist works exhibited at Ithra Museum in Dhahran.
Ithra announced the result on its official LinkedIn account during the exhibition's run. The prize carries a US$100,000 award and acquisition of the winning work into the Ithra collection, according to its official terms.
Flora Incognita combines 3D-printed plant sculptures, steel cabinets and graphite drawings. It revisits the history of botanical classification in the Gulf, exploring how naming and documentation shape knowledge and perceptions of nature.
Visitors can see the work alongside the other finalists in Museum Gallery 1. The official programme lists a session today, Friday, October 2, from 4pm to 10pm, with an admission ticket required.
