Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture reviewed five initiatives supporting domestic poultry production in a report published on 6 October 2026 to mark the close of the Middle East Poultry Expo in Riyadh. They span supply-chain quality, import administration, poultry genetics, vaccine manufacturing and local parent-stock chick production.

Quality, regulation and genetics

The measures include applying Saudi GAP standards to strengthen good agricultural practices and transferring import permits from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority to the ministry. The report also describes support for the Judood Al Emtiaz Poultry alliance, which brings together 19 Saudi companies and research and technical partnerships to develop genetic stock for broilers and layers.

Targeted vaccine and breeding investment

The vaccine initiative involves the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, France’s Ceva and Saudi veterinary-services company MAS. Its first phase targets SAR 250 million in investment and around 30% of the poultry vaccine market.

A fifth initiative supports Aviagen Arabia’s local parent-stock chick production, with investment exceeding USD 200 million and targeted annual capacity of 15 million parent-stock chicks. These figures describe investment and capacity targets, rather than completed production results or deals all newly signed at the exhibition.

The ministry said the business-matching programme recorded more than 400 booked and scheduled meetings. The exhibition’s fifth edition ran from 4 to 6 October at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
