About Bin Roqoosh Historical Palace

In the heart of Bani Sar village, north of Al-Baha, the historic Bin Roqoosh Palace sits atop a towering hill, standing witness to the passage of time since its founding in 1834. The palace reflects a complete residential system that once included family quarters and guest lodgings, all overseen by the Zahran council, which represented the heart of social and cultural life at the palace.

Standing Tall for Two Centuries

Since its founding, Bin Roqoosh Palace has been a distinguished landmark embodying traditional architecture and the deep culture of the Al-Baha region. The palace was built in two phases: the first in the 19th century, when the northern and Levantine-style houses were constructed along with facilities such as the mosque and the main kitchen; and the second in 1939, which saw the addition of the eastern, central and reform sections, turning the palace into an impregnable fortress serving the tribes and residents of the region.

A Living Cultural Heritage

Visiting Bin Roqoosh Palace is like a journey through time, where visitors can explore a rich history preserved in every corner of the building. It features intricate architectural designs reflecting the arts of protection and defense, and retains the spirit of authentic Arab hospitality through its rooms and majlises, which witnessed many historical events. The palace also has a courtyard equipped for seasonal celebrations, adding a unique touch of southern tradition to the site.

Bin Roqoosh Historical Palace is not merely a historical landmark — it is a living page from the history of the Al-Baha region, telling stories of the past and speaking to the arts of architecture and life in those bygone eras.
