King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh is hosting the Mechanical Circulatory Support Conference 2024 from 27 to 29 June.

The conference, held under the theme "The Journey from VA-ECMO and VV-ECMO to Durable Ventricular Assist Device Support," will take place in the hospital's King Salman Hall and will bring together a select group of physicians, surgeons and nurses from around the world.

The conference, which includes more than 20 interactive scientific sessions, panel discussions and workshops delivered by global experts, aims to discuss the latest developments in circulatory support technologies, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), ventricular assist devices and the total artificial heart. It also explores the impact of these technologies on improving quality of life and health outcomes for patients suffering from heart and respiratory failure.

Conference objectives:

Introducing the latest advanced surgical treatment techniques for heart failure and circulatory support.

Managing respiratory failure using extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

Applying evidence-based criteria for patient selection and risk stratification in circulatory support.

Strengthening communication among healthcare practitioners involved in the care of heart failure patients.

The conference also addresses ways to implement effective strategies for implanting and managing circulatory support devices, and analyzes the ethical considerations associated with circulatory support and heart failure treatment, in addition to developing strategies for educating patients on topics related to circulatory support.

The conference targets a wide range of medical professionals, including cardiothoracic surgeons, critical care physicians, ICU nurses, respiratory therapists and perfusionists.
