Saudi Arabia Unveils Master Plan for Riyadh Expo 2030 in Support of Vision 2030
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City unveiled the master plan for Riyadh Expo 2030 in Paris during a recent official reception. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the expo will be held near King Salman International Airport, which is currently under development, allowing visitors to reach the site easily via the Riyadh Metro network and a modern road network connected to one of the expo's three entrances.
The expo pavilions are laid out in the shape of a globe, with the equator running through the middle, creating a visual orientation that matches the expo's vision and goals and guaranteeing equal opportunities for all participants. The design also reflects Riyadh's long-standing architectural style, history, culture and nature, as well as the Kingdom's shared concern with the world for the climate and its ambition to look toward a future full of possibilities.
Country pavilions will be positioned flexibly according to each country's longitude, in an arrangement that places countries from the Northern and Southern hemispheres side by side, symbolizing the important role the Kingdom plays in facilitating cooperation among the nations of the world.
The expo will feature a landmark symbolizing responsibility for protecting the planet, resting on 195 columns representing the number of countries taking part. It will be surrounded by three pavilions, each embodying one of the expo's sub-themes: Prosperity for All, Climate Action, and A Better Tomorrow.
The expo will also include the Collaborative Change Corner (C3), which will act as an engine of innovation and creativity throughout the seven-year journey leading up to the expo and beyond. It aims to show how the brightest minds can collaborate on scientific, social and intellectual innovation and accelerate the changes that will shape a better future.
Organizers hope to attract up to 25 million visitors from around the world to the expo, which will run for six months.
