The CPHI Middle East global pharmaceutical exhibition opened today at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Roshn Front, drawing more than 400 exhibitors from 100 countries and more than 150 prominent speakers in the pharmaceutical industry. The exhibition runs through 12 December 2024, offering a strategic platform for cooperation and innovation in the pharmaceutical sector.

Multi-Billion-Riyal Agreements: Toward a Sustainable Pharmaceutical Future

This year's exhibition was marked by the signing of major agreements and partnerships worth more than SR10 billion, strengthening the Kingdom's standing as a regional hub for the pharmaceutical industry. Among the most notable agreements:

  1. An agreement between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources with Vertex:
    • Worth SR1 billion.
    • Aimed at boosting research and innovation in cell and gene therapies, with a focus on diseases such as sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia.
  2. The launch of a logistics complex in Riyadh:
    • Worth SR1 billion.
    • Spanning 200,000 square meters, featuring modern facilities powered by solar energy and automation technologies.
  3. An agreement to establish a biologics manufacturing center:
    • Worth SR3 billion.
    • Focused on supporting biotechnology strategy and oncology medicines.
  4. A partnership between Saudi Vax and Henlius:
    • Worth SR426 million.
    • To establish Fosun Henlius Middle East and an advanced Saudi biologics manufacturing plant.
  5. An agreement to establish the ZETA Gulf pharmaceutical plant:
    • Worth SR2 billion.
    • To produce specialized medicines supporting local and global market needs.
  6. Expansion into biological medicines:
    • Worth SR1 billion.
    • Including the production of antibody drugs for autoimmune diseases.

A Global Platform for Cooperation and Innovation

The exhibition spans 38,000 square meters, making it the largest in the region, with participation from global and local pharmaceutical companies showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in drug manufacturing.
