The Asir seafront on the Red Sea coast drew more than 20,000 visitors last week, coinciding with the 1446H mid-year school break.
The large turnout comes as part of the "Winter Asir Coast Season," organized by the Asir Region Municipality through its Coastal Municipality, which runs for three months to serve as a leading winter tourist destination amid mild daytime temperatures ranging between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Varied Events for Entertainment and Nature Lovers

The Winter Asir Coast Season features a range of standout programs and entertainment activities, including:

  • Beach games and adventures: including dune buggies and jet skis, fishing displays, challenge games and children's zones.
  • Sea and air sports: paragliding, skating rinks and cycling.
  • Family entertainment activities: seaside lounges, barbecue areas and overnight caravan spots.
  • Culinary experiences: restaurants and cafés offering a variety of meals, alongside home-based businesses serving distinctive local dishes.

The season also offers cultural activities including theatrical shows and folk arts, as well as poetry evenings catering to visitors seeking a cultural experience.

A Seafront With Distinctive Features

The seafront project spans 2.4 million square meters along the Red Sea coast and features:

  • A seaside promenade 20 meters wide.
  • More than 90 family seating areas.
  • Green spaces totaling 200,000 square meters.
  • Varied service facilities including shopping centers, restaurants, cafés, sports courts and family seating areas within the gardens.

Asir Municipality's Efforts

The Asir Region Municipality said it has stepped up efforts to ensure visitors' comfort, through:

  • Removing more than 500 tons of waste.
  • Carrying out 120 inspection rounds on restaurants and cafés.
  • Maintaining lighting, green spaces and infrastructure.
  • Cleaning roads and beaches, and providing all necessary services and facilities.

Through these efforts, Asir Municipality aims to reinforce the seafront's standing as a unique winter tourist destination, adding to the range of tourism options the Kingdom offers as part of Vision 2030.
