Riyadh – April 16, 2025
As part of its continuous efforts to raise awareness of the importance of preserving national heritage for future generations, the Heritage Commission today launched the "World Heritage Day 2025" events, running from April 16 to 21 at the Leisen Valley complex in Riyadh, spotlighting the Kingdom's eight World Heritage sites while offering an immersive, multi-sensory experience exploring the richness of the Kingdom's culture and history.

Interactive Experiences That Transport Visitors Through Worlds of Heritage

The event takes visitors on a sensory and interactive journey through three main activities:

  • Heritage storytelling.
  • Digital light shows simulating heritage sites.
  • Live representations of the Kingdom's World Heritage sites, such as AlUla, Diriyah, Historic Jeddah and others.

On April 18, the event also features a spectacular drone show over "Heritage Valley," alongside activities for children, interactive workshops, and stalls for displaying and selling handicraft products – showcasing authentic Saudi skills and supporting the sustainability of traditional crafts.

Preserving Heritage in a Contemporary Style

The Heritage Commission affirms that this event falls within Saudi Vision 2030's goals of strengthening national identity and activating culture's role as a fundamental pillar of society, noting that World Heritage Day, observed on April 18 each year, is an international occasion to raise awareness of the importance of protecting human heritage and to activate community participation in its preservation.

Sustaining Crafts and Building Awareness

In a notable move, the Commission allowed craftspeople to display and sell their products directly at the event, in a model combining economic support and cultural empowerment that helps pass craft heritage on to new generations in an innovative way.
