Saudi Mango Festival Kicks Off in Jeddah to Support Farmers and Boost Local Agricultural Marketing
Jeddah, April 28, 2025 (30 Shawwal 1446H):
The Jeddah branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture today launched the Saudi Mango Festival, an annual event showcasing the finest local varieties of mangoes and tropical fruit, with wide participation from agricultural associations and local farmers.
Supporting local produce and agricultural marketing
The festival aims to support Saudi farmers by opening direct sales outlets for local produce, while highlighting the importance of agricultural marketing as a decisive factor in developing the sector — from selecting the right varieties, through cultivation, to raising production efficiency and marketing it professionally to achieve the desired economic returns.
High-quality mango and tropical fruit varieties
Reem Bahamdeen, deputy director of the ministry's Jeddah office, said the festival showcases a diverse range of high-quality local mango varieties alongside other tropical fruits successfully cultivated locally thanks to the efforts of agricultural research centers, reflecting the Kingdom's major progress in the agricultural sector.
A festival blending agriculture and tourism
The Saudi Mango Festival has become an important tourism draw in Jeddah governorate, as it highlights the success stories of Saudi farmers, raises community awareness of the importance of food self-sufficiency, and supports agritourism as a promising sector under Saudi Vision 2030.
Awareness and advisory services
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's Jeddah office also offers farmers consulting and advisory services, including support for modern agricultural projects, technical solutions to raise production quality and efficiency, and the promotion of sustainable practices in local agriculture.
The annual event underscores the Kingdom's commitment to achieving food security by supporting national products and encouraging sustainable agricultural development.
