Riyadh – May 14, 2025 — In a move that reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, "Warth," is taking part in the "Media Oasis" event held in the Green Halls in Riyadh, as part of the activities accompanying the visit of US President Donald J. Trump to the Kingdom.

Through its participation, "Warth" aims to highlight palm-frond weaving as one of the traditional handicrafts deeply rooted in the Saudi environment, combining artistic authenticity with practical function and embodying a cultural element shared among peoples, offering an opportunity to strengthen cultural exchange with international visitors.

The Institute is presenting a live demonstration of palm-frond product making, carried out by a select group of students and skilled craftspeople, accompanied by a silent documentary film that shows the stages of turning palm fronds into woven products and documents the craft's role in daily Saudi life, past and present.

The cultural experience is complemented by bilingual (Arabic and English) informational content explaining the craft's significance and history, in addition to a dedicated art shop where visitors can purchase unique handmade products designed by the Institute's students, as artistic pieces expressing the Kingdom's cultural identity.

"Warth" is a key pillar of the Kingdom's strategy for preserving intangible cultural heritage, working to train and qualify Saudi talent in traditional crafts and to strengthen younger generations' connection to their cultural roots.

This participation coincides with an important diplomatic event, highlighting the Kingdom's ability to link culture and public diplomacy, and to open new channels for cultural engagement with the world.
