Riyadh, 28 Dhul Hijjah 1446H (June 24, 2025) — The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission in Saudi Arabia has launched the "International Training Program for Literary Agents and Agencies 2025," held in the United Kingdom over five days, aiming to qualify Saudi agents and raise the efficiency of local literary agencies through intensive, specialized training combining theory and fieldwork.

The program includes development workshops and one-on-one advisory sessions led by a select group of global publishing-industry experts, alongside field visits to a number of leading British literary agencies, giving participants insight into best practices for representing authors and negotiating with publishers.

The program offers a unique opportunity to develop the capabilities of literary agents in the Kingdom, in line with the Commission's ambitions to expand local publishing and encourage agencies to apply international standards, particularly on the legal and marketing fronts that protect authors' rights and boost their work's prospects in local and global markets.

The program builds on the "Literary Agent" initiative previously launched by the Commission — the first of its kind in the Arab world — which aims to formalize the professional relationship between authors and the entities that benefit from their work, such as publishing houses, distribution platforms and production companies, contributing to building a sustainable Saudi publishing ecosystem with a global presence.
