Under the patronage of Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim, and attended by Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Faisal bin Saad, deputy governor of the province, the second Unaizah International Dates Forum opened today at the Food City in Unaizah governorate, with wide participation from specialists and experts, chamber of commerce representatives, and a number of government and private-sector bodies.

  • A scientific platform for developing the dates sector: the forum featured a number of scientific sessions and workshops addressing key topics, including the future of the dates industry and its role in strengthening food security; the environmental and developmental impact of the food industry; prospects for marketing dates globally and ways to overcome challenges facing exporters; and a review of a "Dates Atlas" as a scientific reference to boost knowledge of date varieties and their properties.

In his remarks, the Qassim governor said the forum represents an important professional and scientific platform for developing this vital sector, praising the concept of the workshops and specialized sessions, and expressing hope that the forum's outcomes will lead to practical recommendations and innovative solutions that facilitate exporting dates from Qassim and other Saudi regions to global markets.

Unaizah Chamber chairman Khaled Al-Saikhan said the forum reflects the Kingdom's commitment to strengthening the global standing of Saudi dates, pointing to the significant role of the private sector and international partnerships in supporting date-related industries.

The ceremony closed with the honoring of supporting bodies and participants in recognition of their contributions to the success of this international event, considered one of the most prominent initiatives supporting the development of the Saudi dates sector and boosting its competitiveness in global markets.
