The Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University today organized the forum "Teaching Arabic in Light of Artificial Intelligence Technologies: Experiences and Aspirations," held at the university's Conference and Seminar Center, with a roster of researchers and specialists in Arabic-language teaching and AI technology, and wide academic and cultural attendance.

The forum aims to highlight national efforts to develop Arabic-language teaching amid rapid digital shifts, explore the future of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, raise the efficiency of educational outcomes, and review leading research experiences and global practices that apply AI technologies to language teaching, helping strengthen Arabic's global presence.

The university's acting president, Dr. Fawziah bint Sulaiman Al-Omar, said Arabic represents the core of national identity and a key driver of knowledge development, affirming that the university is working to establish a leading national model for teaching Arabic through developing advanced educational and research programs and adopting smart solutions integrated with the contemporary digital landscape. She noted that investment in modern technology, chiefly artificial intelligence, helps enable Arabic to keep pace with global changes while preserving its authenticity.

The forum's program covered several main themes, focusing on the role of AI in supporting the teaching of Arabic to non-native speakers, through a review of the latest smart methods and tools that help develop language skills, a showcase of technical applications that enhance language learning, and a discussion of the effectiveness of integrating AI technologies into the educational process through successful teaching models and experiences locally and internationally.

The forum also included an accompanying exhibition titled "Nourah, a Meeting Point of Civilizations," aimed at promoting the values of global citizenship and cultural integration, in addition to an international cultural exhibition featuring institute students from various countries, reflecting the diversity of cultural identities through folklore, handicrafts and traditional dress, in a scene embodying the civilizational meeting of cultures under the umbrella of the Arabic language.

The exhibition included introductory corners for a number of external bodies, educational and technology institutions, and public libraries, showcasing the latest AI innovations in education and language learning, enriching the forum's knowledge content and cultural dimension. The event also saw the launch of the "Nibras" educational series, designed to serve learners of Arabic as a second language, aiming to develop Arabic-language teaching, support its global spread, and meet learners' linguistic and knowledge needs.

The forum is part of the Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers' role in contributing to the goals of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University's 2025 Strategic Plan, through supporting quality initiatives concerned with the Arabic language and strengthening its civilizational role locally and globally, as a fundamental pillar in building a distinguished, globally competitive knowledge society.
