Jeddah, 29 Sha'ban 1447 AH (17 February 2026)

The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the "Lunabader" volunteering and community partnership program in Jeddah Governorate and the Athr Foundation, has launched the "Ship of Tolerance" initiative in Historic Jeddah during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH, a step reflecting the ministry's direction of promoting shared human values through the arts and instilling the concepts of tolerance and coexistence among children and families, in an educational cultural experience in keeping with the special character of the historic area and its standing as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The initiative is a global art project dedicated to building bridges of understanding between cultures through artistic expression. Children take part in producing the artworks that form the initiative's main visual element, giving them a space to express the concepts of acceptance and dialogue, and reaching local communities through educational programs built on art and cultural dialogue.

As official educational partner of the Ship of Tolerance, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) is offering traditional craft workshops for children and families throughout Ramadan, linking the human values the initiative presents directly with the local craft heritage and strengthening the presence of the traditional arts in a contemporary context that enriches the visitor experience and deepens their bond with the area's cultural identity.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Culture's efforts to support cultural programs with an educational and community dimension in Historic Jeddah and to activate its sites to host quality experiences combining art, traditional crafts and community participation, strengthening its presence as a tourism and cultural destination that embodies the goals of the National Culture Strategy under Saudi Vision 2030 in preserving heritage, empowering generations and widening the impact of culture on daily life.
