Hira Cultural District Cements Its Standing as a Knowledge Destination Evoking the History of the Revelation on International Museum Day
The Hira Cultural District in Makkah is continuing to strengthen its presence as one of the Kingdom's leading cultural and knowledge destinations, through interactive experiences and historical content documenting the Islamic heritage and the history of the revelation, coinciding with International Museum Day, marked on 18 May each year.
The district is a modern model of cultural projects that combine historical documentation with advanced interactive technology, enriching the visitor experience and deepening civilizational and knowledge awareness among visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom.
The Holy Quran Museum Documents the History of the Mushaf Across the Ages
The Hira Cultural District houses a set of specialized cultural facilities, led by the Holy Quran Museum, one of the district's most prominent knowledge landmarks, which offers a documentary journey through the history of writing and caring for the Holy Quran across the Islamic eras.
The museum holds rare artifacts and manuscripts and historic copies of the Quran, along with displays tracing the development of Arabic calligraphy and the Islamic decorative arts associated with the Mushaf, reflecting the civilizational standing of the Holy Quran in Islamic history.
The museum also presents the writing and printing tools and copying methods used over the centuries, in a complete knowledge experience that highlights Muslims' efforts to preserve and care for the Book of God.
The Revelation Exhibition Offers an Interactive Experience of the Beginnings of the Message
The district also hosts the Revelation Exhibition, which gives visitors an interactive visual and audio experience recreating the story of the revelation to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in the Cave of Hira, presenting the earliest stages of the Islamic message through modern display methods and advanced technology.
The exhibition lets visitors discover aspects of the Prophet's biography and Islamic civilization through comprehensive knowledge content and historical models and artifacts that document social, cultural and architectural life across the Islamic eras.
A Cultural Destination Supporting Saudi Vision 2030
The Hira Cultural District plays an important role in supporting cultural and knowledge activity in Makkah by offering educational content that combines authenticity with modern technology, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 goals of developing the cultural sector and strengthening the presence of museums and exhibitions as platforms for preserving heritage and passing it on to future generations.
