The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has launched the training camp for the International Standards Olympiad, held at SASO's headquarters in Riyadh from 28 June to 2 July 2026.

The camp brings together 29 male and female students in a specialized training program supervised by leading SASO trainers, aimed at developing their knowledge of standards, metrology and quality and preparing them to compete for a place representing the Kingdom at the International Standards Olympiad, scheduled in South Korea from 12 to 14 August 2026.

The training program focuses on the concepts of quality and their importance in developing products and services and improving quality of life, along with developing students' scientific and applied skills and encouraging them to devise solutions and ideas that support competitiveness and innovation across fields.

The camp is part of national efforts to prepare outstanding young talent in scientific and applied fields and strengthen the Kingdom's presence in international competitions through training and qualification programs that sharpen gifted students' skills and enable them to represent the nation with distinction.

The International Standards Olympiad is one of the world's leading specialized competitions, held annually in South Korea with middle and high school students from around the world, aiming to develop knowledge of standards and their role in supporting innovation and industry and improving quality of life.

The Kingdom's previous results in the competition reflect the progress of Saudi students, who won two awards in the 2024 edition and three in 2025, raising ambitions for new achievements in the upcoming edition.
