The Museums Commission has launched the "Museum on the Road" initiative, a step aimed at strengthening the integration of museums and schools by delivering an interactive educational experience that brings museum content directly to students in their own learning environments, through a mobile museum that is the first of its kind in the Kingdom.

The initiative relies on a fully equipped truck converted into an interactive museum display space, traveling between public, private and international schools in Riyadh to give students an experience that combines learning and exploration and connects museum objects with the concepts they study in the classroom.

The initiative seeks to position museums as educational institutions that support the curriculum. The content of the experience was designed in coordination with the National Center for Curricula to align with learning outcomes in subjects such as history, art, science, mathematics and natural sciences, taking into account the needs of every stage from primary to secondary school.

The experience goes beyond displaying objects to include hands-on interactive activities that encourage critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving and communication, along with a practical workshop in which students design their own mini exhibition, turning knowledge into an enjoyable and tangible learning experience.

The initiative also provides an educational guide for teachers to help them use the museum experience within the learning process and link it to the curriculum, deepening understanding and the impact of learning in the classroom.

Eng. Abdullah Al Hammad, CEO of the Museums Commission, said the initiative is an innovative model for bringing museums to the community and strengthening their role in spreading knowledge and inspiring students. Dr. Taghreed Al Sarraj, who leads the initiative, said the project is built on a vision that makes museums part of the learning journey and turns information into interactive educational experiences with lasting impact.

The initiative is part of the Museums Commission's efforts to develop modern educational models and encourage students to visit museums outside school with their families, strengthening the connection to culture and heritage and extending the educational impact to the whole community.
