The Islamic University of Madinah organized a session titled “Media and Thinking Skills in Promoting Intellectual Awareness” as part of the programs associated with the international conference on Saudi Arabia’s efforts to address ideological deviations.

The session focused on developing the skills needed to engage responsibly with media content and information, emphasizing the importance of analyzing information and verifying its accuracy and sources before sharing it.

Critical Thinking and Misinformation

The session was presented by Dr. Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi of the College of Arabic Language and Humanities and Dr. Hassan bin Yahya Al-Awaji, Dean of Student Affairs at the university.

Discussions addressed misinformation and deliberate disinformation, highlighting the role of critical thinking in evaluating content, distinguishing reliable information from inaccurate claims, and verifying sources before circulating information.

Promoting Awareness and Moderation

The speakers also reviewed Saudi efforts to address ideological deviations and strengthen public awareness, while emphasizing the importance of equipping individuals with the skills required to navigate the growing volume of media content and information responsibly.

The session formed part of the conference’s accompanying program, which aims to enrich academic discussion on intellectual awareness, responsible engagement with media, and the promotion of moderation.
