Riyadh is preparing to host the "Solar Energy Exhibition 2024" at Roshn Front on November 4 and 5, a prestigious event bringing together leading specialists and stakeholders in Saudi Arabia's renewable energy sector and beyond. The exhibition serves as a key gathering point for representatives of government bodies, decision-makers and investors in the energy sector, alongside professionals looking to exchange knowledge and explore partnerships that support the sustainability of the Kingdom's energy sector.

Saudi Arabia enjoys a strategic advantage as part of the "Global Sun Belt," giving it enormous potential to develop solar and wind energy. This comes amid the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to strengthen the sector as part of Vision 2030, which aims to increase reliance on renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.

Among the recent initiatives aligned with this vision is the signing of two memoranda of understanding between King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the Saudi Electricity Company, and Taqnia Energy. The agreements cover the development of the first standalone 50-megawatt solar power plant in Al-Aflaj and the establishment of an advanced research and development center for the electricity distribution sector, strengthening the Kingdom's capacity for innovation and technology localization.

The Solar Energy Exhibition 2024 aims to provide a platform for leading minds and innovators in the field to showcase advanced solutions and technologies that can reduce electricity production costs and boost local content. This comes as the Kingdom makes progress on the Global Solar Energy Index, moving up to 12th place worldwide from 14th, reinforcing its ambitions to export renewable energy to Europe within the next ten years.

The exhibition will provide an ideal environment for boosting cooperation between the public and private sectors, alongside encouraging scientific research that contributes to the Kingdom's ambitions to become a global leader in clean energy.
