The "Craftsman's Bus" caravan, run by the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wa'rth), has concluded its activities in Dumat Al-Jandal governorate in Al-Jouf region, following a notable tour that took in several parts of the Kingdom. The event was held in an exceptional setting, near prominent historical landmarks such as Marid Castle and the Mosque of Caliph Omar bin Al-Khattab.

A Diverse and Distinctive Program

The event included:

  • An exhibition of traditional handicrafts: featuring prayer beads, pens made from olive wood and olive pits, sadu weaving, handmade crafts, and leather printing.
  • Creative workshops: giving visitors the chance to learn traditional crafts under the supervision of specialists working to preserve these heritage arts.
  • Live performances: including distinctive performances of "Al-Dahha," staged on a trailer that toured the governorate's main roads to promote the event.

A Rich Experience for Visitors

Visitors, including families and individuals, enjoyed an exceptional journey that began with learning about traditional crafts aboard the Craftsman's Bus, which included a sales area and a heritage majlis reflecting Saudi hospitality. Visitors also took part in the workshops, making for a hands-on, educational experience.

Strong Turnout and Positive Impact

The event was held over three days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and drew large crowds of Dumat Al-Jandal residents and visitors. The initiative helped showcase traditional Saudi crafts and reinforce their cultural value, while encouraging local practitioners to develop their skills and market their products.

The event is part of the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts' efforts to revive Saudi heritage arts and raise awareness of them, in line with Saudi Vision 2030's goal of preserving national heritage and presenting it to future generations in innovative ways.
