The Saudi Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with Yemen's Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, organized an exceptional cultural concert to honor the Yemeni Orchestra at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh. The concert was attended by Yemen's Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, and Saudi Deputy Minister of Culture Rakan bin Ibrahim Al-Touq, alongside a group of intellectuals, artists and media figures from both Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

A Blend of Yemeni and Saudi Arts

The concert featured a range of musical performances by Yemeni artists, blending musical and vocal styles inspired by Yemeni heritage, such as Adeni, Sanaani, and Hadhrami. The concert also featured a notable artistic collaboration between Yemeni and Saudi musicians, who performed heritage pieces together reflecting the deep cultural ties between the two brotherly nations.

Accompanying Events Showcasing Musical Heritage

The concert was accompanied by several events, including corners organized by the Saudi Music Commission to introduce visitors to traditional musical instruments such as the oud, qanun, rebab and tar, alongside a showcase of initiatives such as:

  • "Memory of Saudi Music": a project to document and preserve Saudi musical works from their earliest beginnings through the mid-1980s.
  • "Turuq Al-Saudia": a documentation project aimed at cataloging musical and performance styles across the Kingdom's regions.

International and Heritage Participation

The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH) also took part with a photo exhibition showcasing efforts to restore Yemeni heritage, in cooperation with international organizations and Yemeni institutions.
For its part, the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen presented a dedicated pavilion showcasing its development projects, which have totaled 263 projects and initiatives in sectors including education, energy and transport, implemented across 16 Yemeni governorates.

Boosting International Cultural Exchange

This concert represents part of the Ministry of Culture's efforts to promote international cultural exchange, forming part of the goals of the National Culture Strategy under Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on highlighting local cultural heritage and strengthening ties with fraternal and friendly cultures.
