Judging Panels Begin Evaluating Filmmaking Competition Entries to Promote Family Values

Judging panels began work today evaluating entries in the filmmaking competition organized by the Al-Mawaddah Family Development Association as part of the "Instilling Values Challenge" initiative. The competition aims to promote family values among young people through creative works, with films assessed on how well they meet standards of creativity and the specified values to qualify for the Best Film award.

A Rigorous Judging Process and Intensive Workshops

The judging sessions opened with a dedicated workshop reviewing the most notable entries, highlighting outstanding works ahead of selecting the winning teams. The names of the six winning teams for this season are expected to be announced at an upcoming closing ceremony.

The selection criteria focus on the quality of the screenplay, cinematography, direction, and how well the film connects to the message of promoting family values, alongside creativity in delivering that message.

Broad Participation From Students and Universities

The competition engaged more than 1,391 male and female students from 7 Saudi universities:

  • King Abdulaziz University
  • University of Jeddah
  • University of Business and Technology
  • Effat University
  • Dar Al-Hekma University
  • Prince Mugrin University
  • Jeddah International University

This broad participation reflects students' keen interest in producing creative short films that help promote family values within Saudi society.

Promoting Values Through Art

The competition focused on developing participants' knowledge and artistic skills, through their attendance of the "Instilling Values Challenge" course organized by the Al-Mawaddah Association. The course covered the importance of family values and innovative ways to express them, alongside specialized workshops in film production, helping students acquire the artistic skills needed to produce purposeful films carrying innovative value-based messages.
