Jubail's Art Expo 2024 turns art into a tool for environmental awareness
Jubail hosts "Art Expo 2024" to spread environmental awareness through art
Art Expo 2024 opened yesterday at the Cultural Center in Jubail Industrial City, organized by the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts (Jasft) in cooperation with the Social Services Department at the Royal Commission. Held under the theme "Towards Sustainable Art," the nine-day event aims to highlight art's role in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness.
An exhibition celebrating artistic diversity
The expo includes a fine art exhibition featuring 89 works by 63 artists of different nationalities, reflecting rich cultural and artistic diversity. Among its highlights is the "Art Boulevard," an interactive area with exhibitions dedicated to artists with disabilities and corners showcasing emerging talent, alongside murals reflecting the Sustainable Development Goals.
Hands-on activities and workshops for children
The expo did not overlook children, setting up dedicated areas such as "Kids Art Corner" and "Childhood Arts" to nurture artistic creativity among younger generations. It also organized educational workshops introducing children to the concept of sustainable art and its importance in protecting the environment.
Art's role in achieving sustainability
Nadia Al-Otaibi, director of Jasft Jubail, said the expo aims to promote art as an effective tool for achieving sustainability, noting the importance of such events in shedding light on social and environmental issues from an artistic perspective. She added that the expo seeks to support artists and showcase their creativity while strengthening engagement between the community and artists through platforms that convey the message of sustainable art.
Art and the environment in harmony
The expo is part of the Royal Commission's efforts to raise environmental awareness and achieve sustainable development, with art serving as an effective tool for positive change. Through its artworks and interactive workshops, the expo highlights key environmental issues such as climate change and natural resource conservation, making it a comprehensive platform that combines creativity with environmental awareness.
