The third edition of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Conference opens tomorrow at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh, under the patronage of Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan. Held over two days under the theme "Charting the Future for a Sustainable Economy and Enhanced Security," the conference brings together a select group of international officials and experts.

Conference goals

The conference aims to discuss the latest developments in zakat, tax and customs, and review local and global experiences in these vital sectors. It also focuses on digitizing systems to streamline operations and achieve integration between various bodies, while strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors.

The conference features a number of dialogue sessions involving ministers and heads of international organizations, most notably:

  • Economic recovery and growth amid global challenges.
  • Ensuring prosperity through sustainable economic growth and boosting investment appeal.
  • Updating the regulatory and technical framework for customs systems to meet future challenges.
  • Comparative perspectives on zakat practices internationally.

On the second day, specialized sessions will cover:

  • Maximizing the use of data in integrated tax and customs administrations.
  • Enabling business efficiency and growth through e-invoicing.

Accompanying activities

The conference is accompanied by a specialized exhibition featuring about 90 pavilions representing local and international entities, along with 70 workshops aimed at raising awareness of procedures and updates related to zakat, tax and customs systems, and promoting a culture of compliance.

Agreements to boost cooperation

The conference is expected to see the signing of several local and regional agreements aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation between countries and supporting efforts to facilitate cross-border trade operations, in line with Saudi Vision 2030's goals of economic integration.
