Najran University President Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Khudairi today opened the "Awabid" exhibition, organized by the university's Institute of Studies and Consulting Services, attended by a delegation from the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) led by the institute's CEO, Dr. Suzan Al-Yahya. Held at the Prince Jalawi bin Abdulaziz Conference Center, the exhibition is an artistic and cultural event blending contemporary art with authentic traditional crafts.

What the Exhibition Features

The exhibition brings together a distinguished set of activities and displays reflecting the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the Najran region, including interactive, conceptual artworks spotlighting contemporary artistic creativity, live performances showcasing the living dimensions of heritage arts, and traditional craft corners featuring a number of skilled craftspeople working in fields such as weaving, leatherwork, Arabic calligraphy, silver bracelet-making, pottery, and palm-frond weaving.

The university said the exhibition reflects its commitment to preserving cultural heritage and traditional arts, and to boosting the role of local craftspeople by showcasing their work and supporting their continued practice of these crafts.

Cooperation with "Wrth"

The delegation from the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts praised the initiative, stressing the importance of cooperation in promoting heritage arts and connecting them with contemporary art, which strengthens the Kingdom's cultural identity and helps pass traditional crafts on to new generations using modern, innovative methods.

The "Awabid" exhibition is part of Najran University's efforts to strengthen national identity and support Vision 2030's goals of developing culture and the arts and preserving national heritage.
