Najran is the seat of Najran Region in the south-west of the Kingdom, bisected by Wadi Najran, with about 422,000 people in its governorate and 592,000 in the region according to the 2022 census. It combines a deep history, from the ancient city of Al-Ukhdud to the World Heritage rock art of Hima, with unique mud architecture at the Emirate Palace, Al-Aan Palace and Raum Castle, and an agriculture that makes it one of the Kingdom's largest citrus sources alongside Bayadh dates, the Najrani janbiya craft and folk arts such as the Razfah and Zamil. Its annual calendar opens with the Citrus Festival in January, the Winter Festival and Al-Raqsh Al-Najrani at the Emirate Palace square, then the Najran Investment Forum in June, the Najran Summer Festival and Khayrat Najran in summer, and the camel auction, camel races, Ibdaa Najran and Najran University's conferences in autumn.
