The first event of Diriyah Season 24/25 launched yesterday with the exhibition "Majd Mubari, 200 Years On," celebrating the bicentennial of the founding of the Second Saudi State by Imam Turki bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud, drawing visitors from inside the Kingdom and abroad to learn about a history rich in legacy and national values.

"Majd Mubari": Celebrating History and Leadership

The "Majd Mubari" exhibition was chosen to open this year's Diriyah Season activities given the historical importance of the Second Saudi State, as the natural extension of the founding phase of the First Saudi State, and a link to the era of development and prosperity we live in today.
The exhibition aims to spotlight the figure of Imam Turki bin Abdullah as one of the most prominent Saudi leaders who contributed to building the state, reviewing the political and social events that shaped his journey from Diriyah to his entry into Riyadh.

The Legacy of Imam Turki bin Abdullah

  • Imam Turki bin Abdullah was born in Diriyah in 1183 AH/1769 CE, growing up amid a leading economic and cultural center during the era of the First Saudi State.
  • He learned wisdom and leadership in the At-Turaif district and its palaces, and studied in the "kuttab" schools of Diriyah's mosques, which helped shape his leadership character, marked by justice and wisdom.
  • His name is linked to "As-Saif Al-Ajrab," one of the most famous swords in the history of the Arabian Peninsula, which accompanied him in reclaiming Riyadh in 1240 AH/1824 CE, and which remains a symbol of courage and pride to this day.

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time using visual and audio effects, with sections narrating the life of Imam Turki and the sequence of historical events, most notably:
