The "Chinese Film Nights" event opened today, jointly organized by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China and China's National Film Administration, at the Vox Cinemas hall in the Roshn Front complex in Jeddah. The event is part of efforts to strengthen cultural cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China and aims to spotlight Chinese film production.

Special Film Screenings

The opening was attended by Chinese Consul General Wang Qimin, Saudi Film Festival director Ahmed Al-Mulla, and Dr. Muhannad bin Ghazi Abed, director of the Institute of Chinese Science and Culture at King Abdulaziz University, alongside a number of filmmakers and creatives.

The opening featured a screening of the first part of the film "Turmoil in Chaoma," followed by the film "Al-Khansaa." The event continues over three nights, during which six Chinese films will be screened, two per night, offering audiences in Jeddah a captivating cinematic experience that reflects the diversity of Chinese cinema.

Cultural Cooperation Between Riyadh and Beijing

"Chinese Film Nights" follows the success of "Saudi Film Nights," hosted by cinemas in Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou from 21 to 26 December. That event in China featured a distinguished selection of Saudi feature and short films, as part of cultural exchange efforts and boosting film industry growth in both countries.

Strengthening the Shared Cultural Scene

The event seeks to enable the private sector to contribute to strengthening the cultural and artistic scene between the two countries, through the exchange of film expertise and by providing a platform for connection between filmmakers and creatives.
