The "Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium 2025" is preparing to launch its sixth edition from January 15 to February 8, 2025, at Roshn Front in Riyadh, with the participation of 30 artists from 23 countries, including a select group of leading Saudi sculptors, under the theme: "From Time to Time... The Joy of the Journey in Its Hardships."

Live Sculpting and a Unique Visitor Experience

The symposium gives visitors the chance to watch live sculpting, as artists create public works of art in front of the audience, opening the door to direct interaction with the sculptors, learning about their techniques, and discovering the tools used. The symposium's programme also includes 11 dialogue sessions, 10 enriching workshops, and six training programmes, alongside school visits and guided tours that boost cultural and creative engagement.

A Comprehensive Programme for Developing the Arts and Promoting Sustainability

The dialogue sessions focus on the role of public art in improving the urban landscape, while the workshops showcase sustainable artistic practices such as the use of natural pigments, alongside specialized training programmes in advanced techniques such as kinetic sculpture design.

A Global Platform for Creativity and Cultural Exchange

Symposium director Sara Al-Ruwaite said this edition has attracted global interest, with the symposium receiving more than 750 applications from 80 countries, reflecting its standing as a leading platform for sculptural creativity. She added that visitors will be able to view the finished sculptures at the accompanying exhibition, which will run from February 12 to 24, 2025.

Highlighting the Creative Journey

This year's edition is curated by Sebastian Betancur Montoya and Dr. Manal Al-Harbi, with the symposium focusing on the artist's journey from the inception of an idea through to its realization as a sculpture. Montoya affirmed that this edition invites visitors to share the artists' creative journey and learn the details of sculpture-making.

"Riyadh Art" and Achieving Saudi Vision 2030

The Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium is one of the projects under the "Riyadh Art" programme, which aims to transform Riyadh into an open art gallery by integrating public art into the capital's urban landscape. The programme seeks to promote artistic expression and creativity in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
