'Numa: The Forgotten Rites,' First Artwork to Embody the Identity of Villa Hegra in AlUla, Part of AlUla Arts Festival
AlUla, 11 February 2025 — AlUla is hosting a special art event as part of the AlUla Arts Festival: "Numa: The Forgotten Rites," the first collaborative artwork bringing together Saudi artist Sarah Ibrahim and French artist Hugo Schiavi, embodying the artistic identity of Villa Hegra, the Saudi-French cultural institution set to open in the heart of AlUla.
An Artistic Experience Between Heritage and Nature
The project runs from 12 December to 27 February, comprising an indoor exhibition at Maraya Dar Tantora and outdoor installation works in Wadi Al-Na'am, blending modern art with elements of AlUla's storied heritage and unique nature. The exhibition includes glass sculptures inspired by local stones, along with a minimalist glass work designed for contemplation, offering visitors an exceptional sensory experience.
A documentary accompanying the exhibition chronicles the artistic research the two artists undertook, reflecting the integration of contemporary art, deep history, and AlUla's captivating natural landscape.
Villa Hegra: A Cultural Bridge Between Saudi Arabia and France
The project is being carried out as part of the cooperation between the Royal Commission for AlUla and the French Agency for AlUla Development, with Villa Hegra serving as a cultural platform aimed at fostering cultural dialogue and artistic creativity between East and West. The institution seeks to empower artists and communities through joint art projects that merge history and modernity.
