Al-Baha, 28 Ramadan 1446 AH (28 March 2025)

Iftar tables in Al-Baha are adorned during Ramadan with heritage dishes that carry the flavor of the past, chief among them "al-khubza al-muqannah" ("the covered bread"), which the Culinary Arts Commission chose as the region's signature dish.

"Al-khubza al-muqannah" is one of the most famous folk dishes, prepared from wheat flour mixed with water and cooked on a hot stone before being buried under embers, giving it a distinctive aroma and texture. It is served alongside dishes such as asida and haneeth, reflecting how strongly Al-Baha's people hold to their culinary heritage.

Ramadan bin Mohammed Al-Zahrani affirmed that this heritage dish is not merely food, but part of the region's identity, relying on local agricultural produce that has made Al-Baha one of the Kingdom's most important food baskets.
