Amid a charged atmosphere of creativity and visual dialogue, Riyadh's JAX District is hosting Riyadh Art, one of the Kingdom's most prominent cultural events and a global platform for contemporary artworks that express identity and explore human, social and environmental issues through a renewed artistic lens.

Among the standout contributions is the work of French artist Kader Attia, who uses fragments of broken mirrors as an artistic tool to probe the depths of modern civilization and trace the rapid changes taking place in society through partial reflections of the world, offering viewers a visual experience that opens the door to reflecting on human contradictions.

Meanwhile, artist Aisha Sultana captivated audiences with her series “Counting Breaths,” which she began in 2018 and which consists of sculptures precisely carved into paper coated with organic clay. The works capture different moments from the artist's life, visually documenting her breaths through varied marks in shape and depth, in an experience that conveys a personal, earth-bound sense of connection.

The combination of clay — tied to the earth — and paper — a symbol of trees — reflects an environmental and human vision addressing the deep relationship between people and their planet, inviting visitors to reflect on themselves and the world around them through a contemporary artistic lens.

Riyadh Art comes as part of the Kingdom's growing cultural momentum, opening the field for artists from different cultures to present their visions and experiences within a framework that supports experimentation and interaction, further cementing Riyadh's position as a center for contemporary art in the region.
