Heritage Commission Launches Second Edition of "Little Explorer" in Jeddah: An Interactive Experience Inspiring Children to Protect the Nation's Antiquities
Jeddah, May 6, 2025 (8 Dhul Qadah 1446 AH)
The Heritage Commission launches tomorrow in Jeddah the second edition of its leading national initiative "Little Explorer," which targets children and young people with the aim of raising community awareness of the importance of national heritage and offering an interactive experience that instills the concepts of protecting and preserving cultural heritage through innovative educational methods.
An Educational Initiative Combining Entertainment and Knowledge
"Little Explorer" is one of the Heritage Commission's strategic pillars in its effort to instill national identity in younger generations by connecting them with the Kingdom's rich civilizational history. The event offers a fully integrated interactive experience that blends education and play, helping children better grasp concepts of archaeology, excavation and the importance of historical artifacts.
Five Interactive Stations Simulating the Archaeologist's Experience
Children go through an enjoyable experience inside a pavilion designed specifically for the event, passing through five main stations: "The Little Explorer's Story," an inspiring tale that sets the stage for the experience; "Explorer Academy," simplified educational workshops on archaeology; "Excavation Simulation," a realistic dig experience using real tools; "Antiquities Workshop," sensory activities showing how to handle discoveries; and "Play and Learn," interactive games that convey heritage concepts in a fun way.
The event also includes a "Souvenir from Our Heritage" shop offering heritage products and archaeological excavation costumes that enrich the child's experience and preserve their memories through a dedicated photo area.
A Cultural Investment in Future Generations
The initiative extends the Heritage Commission's efforts to support cultural and educational content for children, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to engage the community in protecting heritage and strengthening its role in sustainable development, particularly by empowering young people to become ambassadors for heritage in the future.
