Heritage Commission's "Little Explorer" Program Introduces Children to Archaeology
The Heritage Commission plans to launch the "Little Explorer" events, an initiative aimed at children in Saudi Arabia.
The events are divided into two phases:
The first targets children aged six to 12 and will be held in several shopping centers across ten regions of the Kingdom. It includes a range of events and activities that teach children how to discover and preserve antiquities using simplified scientific principles, while nurturing their scientific and team spirit.
The second phase targets school students aged 13 to 17 and includes seven field trips to six archaeological sites in the Kingdom, featuring three activities that introduce participants to the history of these sites and strengthen students' sense of national belonging by learning about the country's history and archaeological value.
The initiative is part of the Heritage Commission's strategy to strengthen national identity and cultural awareness of the Kingdom's antiquities, and aims to build a generation that knows its country's heritage, historical standing and civilization stretching back thousands of years. The "Little Explorer" initiative was launched by His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan and aims to prepare a generation that understands the importance of antiquities, protects and celebrates them, and takes part in archaeological excavations in the Kingdom.
