Al-Ahsa, May 29, 2025 (2 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH) — In a strategic step toward developing rural and eco-tourism in the Kingdom, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, laid the foundation stone for the first three luxury resorts under the "Tawaja" brand, being developed by "Dan" company, a Public Investment Fund subsidiary, in the presence of a number of officials and representatives of government and private entities.

The project marks the launch of the first phase of "Tawaja" tourism destinations in Al-Ahsa governorate, comprising three distinctive resorts:

  • Tawaja Rural Resort
  • Tawaja Eco-Friendly Resort
  • Tawaja Adventure Resort

These three destinations span more than 1.8 million square meters and include about 200 accommodation units ranging from villas to hotel rooms, some fitted with private pools, along with integrated facilities such as restaurants, pools, health and sports centers, and conference halls, making them comprehensive destinations for tourism and relaxation. The Hilton Worldwide group will operate the resorts, adding a global dimension of quality and service.

Prince Saud affirmed that the project is a key pillar supporting Saudi Vision 2030 in the tourism sector, reflecting the leadership's commitment to sustainable economic development through quality projects that invest in Al-Ahsa's rich natural and cultural assets, foremost among them the world's largest oasis and its long-standing agricultural and environmental heritage.

He added that these projects embody a model of public-private sector integration, driving development in Al-Ahsa toward the ranks of world-class tourism destinations by offering a unique tourism product that reinforces the concept of authentic, sustainable hospitality.

Saad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kroud, chairman of Dan's board of directors, expressed pride in the project, describing it as a milestone in the Kingdom's fine hospitality journey, noting that the resorts' designs reflect Al-Ahsa's enchanting nature and rich cultural spirit.

The ceremony featured a showcase of the resorts' architectural design models, with attendees touring pavilions simulating the hotel rooms, interactive plazas and multi-use facilities aimed at creating an exceptional experience combining entertainment, culture and relaxation in a sustainable environment.

The Tawaja resorts project is part of the national drive to strengthen Al-Ahsa's standing as a cultural and tourism destination, supported by the Al-Ahsa Development Authority and Al-Ahsa governorate, as part of a comprehensive package of development initiatives with regional impact.
