Riyadh, 12 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446H (June 8, 2025) — The spotlight of the world boxing championship returns once again to the Saudi capital Riyadh, with the launch of the second stage of the "WBC Boxing Grand Prix" world tournament, to be held from June 20 to 22 in the "Boulevard City" area, featuring 64 boxers representing more than 40 countries from across the continents.

The tournament is one of the standout global events organised by the World Boxing Council (WBC), held in partnership with Riyadh Season, as part of the Kingdom's plan to host leading international sporting competitions and cement its position as a regional and global hub for combat sports.

Boxers will compete in this round across 32 thrilling knockout bouts, in four officially sanctioned weight categories — featherweight, super lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight — with this stage qualifying winners for the more advanced rounds toward the grand finals, scheduled for December.

The event marks a qualitative shift in the history of boxing in Saudi Arabia, which is seeing broad public interest and notable growth in the number of participants, following the success of the first stage held last April with 128 boxers and a large public turnout.

Riyadh's leg is a pivotal stop on the tournament calendar, giving the Saudi capital a new global title as a platform for international sporting competitions and a hub hosting boxing's biggest stars amid world-class entertainment and organisation.
