Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — July 9, 2025

The National Museum in Riyadh is launching the third edition of its interactive summer camp "Made in the Museum," aimed at children aged 10 to 12, as part of the "Year of Handicrafts 2025" initiatives celebrating the Kingdom's diverse craft heritage and reinforcing national identity.

The camp runs in two phases: the first from July 21 to 31, 2025, and the second from August 4 to 14, 2025, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., both inside and outside the National Museum.

An Interactive Journey Through Time Exploring Traditional Crafts

The camp gives participants a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in an interactive cultural experience reviving four main craft tracks:

  1. Pottery and clay work
  2. Traditional weaving and textiles
  3. Woodwork
  4. Supporting tracks (ornamentation, design, packaging and display)

Children are encouraged to design their own craft projects, which are showcased at the end of each phase in a mini-exhibition that reflects their creativity and builds their self-confidence.

Innovative Educational and Cultural Goals

The "Made in the Museum" camp aims to:

  • Instill pride in national heritage
  • Develop creative-thinking and design skills
  • Foster teamwork and innovation
  • Offer an unconventional experience that blends play, learning and discovery

The experience aligns with the National Museum's vision of being an active community hub that helps build generations aware of their authenticity and connected to their cultural heritage.

Under the Year of Handicrafts, Culture Inspires the New Generation to Discover

The camp is part of the "Year of Handicrafts 2025" initiatives launched by the Ministry of Culture to raise the profile of crafts as a cultural and economic component, and to encourage society — especially young people — to explore and intellectually and creatively engage with the beauty of traditional industries.
