In an atmosphere filled with reverence and tranquility, the Grand Mosque witnessed live documentation of moments from the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation of the Holy Quran, as pilgrims performing Umrah and worshippers recorded scenes of devout recitation on their phones and livestreamed them to family and loved ones around the world — a scene reflecting the Quran’s place in the hearts of Muslims and giving the competition a global dimension that transcends time and place.

The competition, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is hosting 179 contestants from 128 countries this year, making it one of the largest and most prestigious Quran competitions in the world. The Ministry has provided a live broadcast of all listening sessions via its digital platforms, enabling Muslims inside and outside the Kingdom to follow the competition’s proceedings in real time and engage with the participating memorizers’ exceptional performances.

The organizational efforts and advanced display technology also drew wide praise from visitors, who expressed admiration for the giant screens inside the hall and the live display of Quran pages, allowing them to follow the recitations with greater focus and engagement, adding a profound spiritual dimension to the competition’s atmosphere.

The event embodies Saudi Arabia’s commitment, under its wise leadership, to serving the Holy Quran and caring for those who memorize it, supporting efforts to spread and teach it, in continuation of a long history of dedication to the Quran and reinforcing its role in the lives of Muslims around the world.
