The GEOMIN 2025 conference and exhibition wrapped up in Jeddah today after three days of specialized sessions and discussions on mineral exploration and geophysics, held under the theme "Redefining Mineral Exploration: Opportunities and Potential." The event ran under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef and was organized by the Saudi Geological Survey in partnership with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.

In closing remarks, Saudi Geological Survey CEO Eng. Abdullah bin Muftir Al-Shammari congratulated the participants, saying the inaugural edition of GEOMIN had succeeded in mapping out the future of the mining sector, exchanging global expertise and building a strategic vision to advance the mining industry.

The closing ceremony included the honoring of participating organizations and the teams behind the event's success, followed by the announcement of the conference's official recommendations. These stressed the importance of strengthening international partnerships and building bridges of cooperation, as well as knowledge and technology integration, across the mining sector, alongside technological innovation and expertise-sharing among geological bodies worldwide.

The recommendations called for GEOMIN to be held on a regular, recurring basis to keep pace with advances in geophysics and mineral-exploration technology, and to contribute to knowledge transfer and expanded regional cooperation in earth sciences, stressing the need to link scientific research with industry to boost exploration efficiency and make the most of mineral wealth.

The recommendations also underscored the importance of deploying artificial intelligence to develop analytical models and improve the efficiency of mineral-exploration operations, in support of the Kingdom's clean-energy transition targets, while reinforcing the mining sector's role as one of the key drivers of economic growth and sustainable development in Saudi Arabia.
