The "Journey of Writing and Calligraphy" exhibition has opened at Irqah Hospital in Riyadh and runs from June 11 to September 2, 2023. Now in its second edition, the exhibition explores the spiritual dimension of Arabic calligraphy in Arab-Islamic civilization through a collection of historical, classical and contemporary works.

The exhibition aims to highlight the importance of Arabic calligraphy as a core element of Arab culture and identity. It features 34 calligraphers and 19 contemporary artists from 11 countries, including 12 Saudi calligraphers and four Saudi contemporary artists. On display are rare manuscripts alongside Islamic and contemporary artworks, organized into four main sections: Light, Letter, Space and Poetry.

The exhibition sheds light on the spiritual power of Arabic calligraphy as expressed in its techniques and practices, and reflects the emotion it evokes in readers and viewers. The first edition was held at the National Museum in Riyadh in 2021, tracing the roots and historical development of Arabic calligraphy, showcasing works by calligraphers and contemporary artists, and exploring the artistic relationship between Arabic calligraphy and artificial intelligence.
