Buraidah International Dates Carnival 2026 has opened in Buraidah, Al-Qassim Region, and will continue until 14 October 2026. The 75-day season is among the world’s largest specialist economic and agricultural events for the dates sector.
Held near the Al-Nakhlah Centre south of Buraidah, the carnival is supported by the Governor of Al-Qassim Region and organised by the National Centre for Palms and Dates. It attracts farmers, traders, importers and visitors from Saudi Arabia and abroad, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a leading global producer and exporter of dates.
The carnival retains its Guinness World Records recognition as the world’s largest dates market, supported by its trading volume, multiple sales outlets and the participation of traders and importers from many countries. Its operating system also helps organise daily sales and auctions efficiently.
It is an important economic pillar for the palm and dates sector. Al-Qassim is home to around 11 million palm trees, producing almost 578,000 tonnes of dates annually. The sector generates more than SAR 3.2 billion each year and provides over 4,000 direct and indirect jobs, supporting Saudi Vision 2030 goals for economic diversification and food security.
The carnival programme included cultural, tourism, entertainment and family activities. The official programme lists family and entertainment activities and the main cultural tent for August 20–September 9, and the main play for September 1–5. These programmes should not be understood to continue through the carnival closing date of October 14.
Buraidah International Dates Carnival continues to serve as a global platform connecting production, marketing and investment, opening new markets for Saudi dates and strengthening their presence in regional and international markets.
