Wadi Al-Aqiq, described in the Prophetic tradition as the blessed valley, runs about 15 kilometres south-west of Madinah from the Dhul Hulayfah miqat in the south to Al-Jurf in the north, fed from Al-Naqi more than 100 kilometres away. The Madinah Region Development Authority carried out its environmental rehabilitation: the first phase in December 2020 covered 1.7 kilometres with a 1,600-metre walkway averaging 14 metres wide on 16,500 square metres, planted with 227 shade trees, 77 palms and 850 shrubs, with 287 seats and 65 lamp posts.
The second phase opened on 12 June 2023 over 3 kilometres between the Miqat Mosque and the palace of Urwah bin Al-Zubayr, making the walkway a destination for walking, sport and family evenings beside the historic landmarks.
