Writers and Readers Festival Celebrates Outstanding Content Creators as Short Stories Draw the Crowds
Taif, 23 Rajab 1447 AH (12 January 2026)
The content creator support initiative has emerged as one of the standout programmes at the Writers and Readers Festival in Taif. Launched by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, it aims to empower creatives, strengthen literature's presence in community life and widen the reach of Saudi content locally and globally within a cultural system that supports creativity and innovation.
The commission brought outstanding participants from the initiative's first cycle to the festival to present their creative journeys and literary output to visitors and content enthusiasts, in an interactive setting that reflected the initiative's impact and its success in motivating creators and developing their tools.
The initiative's pavilion features a screen showing the best work produced across its three tracks of short stories, video content and audio content, alongside an art installation in the form of a book highlighting the outstanding participants, in a design that matches the festival's visual identity and reflects the spirit of literature and knowledge.
The first cycle delivered tangible results: more than 600 short stories, 100 multilingual video works and 100 podcast episodes, confirming its role in motivating creators, strengthening their presence in the literary and creative scene and supporting Saudi cultural content.
Among the interactive activities, the short story experience has drawn large numbers of visitors with an innovative model that combines oral storytelling with the skills of concise writing, as part of the commission's interactive cultural programme.
The experience offers two main tracks: the first introduces visitors to the keys to building a short story and its basic techniques, while the second revives living tales inspired by heritage and everyday life in a narrative experience that encourages direct engagement with the audience.
The corner also offers an innovative experience through an artificial-intelligence device that lets visitors choose a story, read it and print it in direct dialogue with the storyteller, cultivating narrative taste, linking literature with modern technology and enriching the cultural experience.
