The Grand Mosque, Makkah, 23 Ramadan 1447 AH (12 March 2026)

The Grand Mosque receives exceptional care across every aspect of operations and services. Among the most prominent is the perfuming of its halls with oud, incense and fine fragrances, in a scene that overflows with spirituality and reflects the attention given to preparing an atmosphere of faith for worshippers and Umrah performers.

An Integrated System for Perfuming the Grand Mosque

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque continues perfuming and incense work under an integrated round-the-clock operational system. The Grand Mosque's halls, courtyards and passages are perfumed, along with the carpets, entrances and various facilities, using the finest luxury Arabian fragrances such as oud oil, musk and amber, deepening the atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the holiest place on earth.

Perfuming the Holy Kaaba and the Black Stone

The care extends to the Holy Kaaba and the Black Stone, which are perfumed with the finest oud and fragrances in an inherited tradition that reflects their great standing in the hearts of Muslims and adds to the atmosphere of faith for those circling the Kaaba and visiting the Grand Mosque.

Figures and Efforts Since the Start of Ramadan

Since the start of Ramadan the perfuming department has intensified its efforts under an operational plan to serve visitors to the Two Holy Mosques, carrying out more than 8,200 daily rounds to perfume the halls of the Grand Mosque and its expansions.

More than 58 kilograms of incense have been used to fumigate the designated sites, along with the distribution of more than 1,100 bottles of perfume to visitors and the anointing of visitors with more than 350 tolas of amber and rose oil, while the quantities of fragrance dispensed through pumps have exceeded 7,300 liters in the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque.

An Enhanced Plan for the Last Ten Nights

With the arrival of the last ten nights of Ramadan and the large numbers of worshippers and Umrah performers they bring, the department has prepared an enhanced operational plan to raise readiness, including a 100% increase in incense quantities compared with the first twenty days of the month and a 50% increase in the perfume and fragrant oil offered to visitors.

The plan also intensifies field rounds and perfuming in the main passages, the mosque entrances, the prayer areas and the Itikaf sites, especially at peak times such as the Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers and the hours after iftar.

Specialized Staff Serving Pilgrims

These efforts are carried out by specialized staff working to precise operational plans that ensure fragrant scents spread across the widest possible area inside the Grand Mosque without affecting the movement of worshippers and Umrah performers.

The efforts are part of the integrated services provided to visitors to the Two Holy Mosques, reflecting the great care the wise leadership devotes to the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors and its commitment to providing the best services in an atmosphere of faith befitting the sanctity of the place and the greatness of the time.
