Qatif, 12 Shawwal 1447 AH (31 March 2026)

The first World of Plants and Flowers Festival opened today in Qatif in the presence of Qatif Governor Abdullah Al Saif and Eng. Fahd Al Hamzi, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the Eastern Province, at the Al Rams project, with the participation of government bodies, private sector companies and productive families.

A Tour of Agricultural and Awareness Initiatives

The Governor of Qatif toured the festival stands, reviewing the agricultural and awareness initiatives of the participating bodies, along with the educational programs and interactive activities aimed at every segment of the community.

Eng. Fahd Al Hamzi said the festival is part of the ministry's efforts to improve quality of life and spread a culture of caring for plants and flowers, given their positive aesthetic, health and environmental effects on people and the environment.

Supporting Environmental Sustainability Initiatives

Al Hamzi said the festival contributes to Saudi Vision 2030 and supports the Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives by raising environmental awareness and encouraging the community to adopt sustainable agricultural practices.

The festival also aims to encourage members of the community to landscape their home gardens and use available spaces to grow plants and flowers, improving the urban landscape and strengthening the principles of environmental sustainability, while supporting agricultural and recreational tourism in the governorate.

An Awareness Platform for Horticultural Culture

Waleed Al Shuwaird, Director of Agriculture at the branch, said the festival is an awareness and interactive platform for promoting horticultural culture in the community, spotlighting best practices in growing and caring for plants and flowers and introducing the species suited to the Eastern Province's environment and how to maintain them.

He said the event connects the community with the agricultural sector through guidance stands run by specialists, and presents modern technology in urban farming and sustainable irrigation systems that improve the efficiency of natural resource use and support food security.

More Than 60 Stands and Varied Family Events

The festival continues until next Saturday with more than 60 varied stands from government and community bodies, cooperative associations, restaurants and productive families.

It also features entertainment and cultural activities such as a free drawing studio for children, an interactive theater and competitions for the young, making it a complete experience combining awareness and entertainment for the whole family.
